Identity theft, hacking, cyber security…how concerned should you be? In this course we will explore the different ways breaches
occur, our everyday habits that make us susceptible to hacking and identity theft, and together learn simple ways to safeguard
our private information. Some topics for discussion in this course will include social engineering, phishing, password sniffing, social media, scam or hoax, data disposal and many others. Using examples of identity theft scenarios we will broaden our knowledge about hacking and different forms of breaches.
Instructor: Dr. Helen Stevens-Benefo has worked in the insurance industry for twenty years. Helen has spent a majority of those years analyzing risks and advising her clients on how to best mitigate risks. The world of technology presents a whole new challenge, one that is fun to explore yet intriguing to understand its emerging risks and ever-changing trends and facets. Her hope is to explore these fascinating trends and risks together with her students.
