NEW! The Culture of the Islamic World: Class and Tour

This course will touch upon every aspect of Islamic culture including religion, languages, art and music, science, medicine, technological, food, history and the influence of the spice trade. The last session of the course will be a Saturday day trip to the Diyanet Center of America in Lanham, Maryland where you will tour a mosque. The tour includes lunch at a Middle Eastern restaurant before you head to the Smithsonian to view Islamic Art at the Freer/Sackler Gallery.

Notes: No refunds after close of business 4/2. This bus tour will utilize the FCC shuttle bus for transportation; not a motor coach. Seats are limited to 25. Seats are limited to 20 students. The price of lunch is included in the course fee.

Instructor: Erum Marfani is a full-time professor of Mathematics at FCC. She has bachelor degrees in political science and mathematics as well as a Masters in statistics. She has lived in Maryland most of her life and is a proud Frederick resident. She loves to learn about different cultures and is learning her 6th and 7th languages. In her spare time, Erum likes to cook, read, and watch old movies.
