The next soccer World Cup will be held In Russia in 2018. In soccer, there are always political ramifications for participating teams. In this unusual course, you will learn how soccer developed and how it became the most important sport in the world. Did you know that there are more countries that play soccer than nations belonging to the United Nations? You’ll also learn about FIFA and the “Laws of the Game.” Don’t miss this opportunity to see how the game has expanded and what happens around the world when the “beautiful” game is being played.

Instructor: Richard “Kap” Kaplowitz played soccer in Junior and Senior High. He has refereed soccer in Frederick County at High School and youth levels since 1988 as well as some years spent officiating adult and college soccer matches. He spent 10 years as a United States Soccer Federation Referee Instructor. He founded the Western Maryland Youth Soccer Referee Association which became WMSOA the Western Maryland Soccer Officials Association that does youth and high school soccer in Frederick County.
