New! Greek Travel: A Glimpse Into the Past, a Look at the Present

This course offers educational information and travel tips for students who are considering travel to Greece or who may simply want to learn more about the country. The course will focus on the art, history and religions that filled the world of ancient Greece. Then learn about modern history, including the 2009 economic collapse, and present day cultural, political, and economical life of the average Greek citizen. The last class will focus on tips for planning for travel to the region, including recommendations for books and movies that will enhance the travel experience.
Instructor: Marcy Gouge is an ILR Instructor and has been an active traveler for almost 20 years. She maintains a travel blog (www.inspiredsolotravel.com) and has written articles for other online sites. In 2014, she spent a month in Greece and wrote an article for the Washington Post travel section about her experiences in the country. She has arranged and led group travel being sensitive to the energy level and physical limitations of the 55+ demographic. She currently teaches a travel class for community colleges throughout the area including FCC. Marcy is the Trip Leader for the ILR 2019 Greece Trip.
