NEW! Butterflies in the Field
1 session, 2.5 hours
Late July is peak time for butterflies when it is possible to see many butterflies in a short time. Come join a guided field tour of butterflies. Learn how to identify common butterflies in the field and distinguish them from moths. We’ll get up close and have plenty of opportunities for pictures. We will meet on site at a locale in Frederick County. The exact location will be finalized at least one week before the class. This course is suitable for beginners. Expect to walk up to 2 miles on fairly even terrain.
Instructor: Kathy Barylski is a leading butterfly researcher in the state and has a passion for spreading the love of butterflies. She coordinates annual butterfly counts in Frederick County, teaches classes about butterflies, and participates in research projects for the State and with other lepidopterists. She is the owner and founder of Incite Ecology, a business launched to help ignite people’s passion for the environment.
