Frederick County has over 200 miles of hiking trails for all different abilities. Ready to pull on your old hiking boots and get out? This class will provide you with all of the essentials so you can have safe and fun outings. Learn how to choose the right footwear, avoid ticks and poison ivy, and understand what it means to “Leave No Trace”.
Instructor: Kathy Barylski has been hiking for over 35 years, typically hiking several hundred miles a year. She is also a trainer with the Girl Scouts, specializing in outdoor programs. She is an experienced as fitness instructor, working part-time as a Water Exercise Instructor at the Frederick YMCA. As someone who has had to deal with serious health complications and a hip replacement, Kathy knows how to tailor fitness and hiking for others with health issues or who are not currently exercising.
