Ireland: Small Island, Big History

Ireland: Small Island, Big History
4 sessions • 6 hours

Ireland’s impact on world history is far greater than expected from a small island on the western edge of Europe. A combination of early relative isolation, followed by centuries of turmoil has resulted in a unique cultural heritage shared by millions across the globe. Join us for a “big picture” survey of Ireland’s history as we trace this remarkable story from Neolithic times to the present day.

Instructor: Ernest O’Roark was a writer and team member for the World History for Us All curriculum project, working with David Christian, author of Maps of Time and This Fleeting World, as well as numerous leading scholars in the field of World History. Ernie taught middle school in Montgomery County for 32 years.
