Learn about the founding of Frederick in 1745 as a planned community on Maryland’s western frontier.  Five decades of growth turned a “howling wilderness” into an important crossroads of transportation, commerce and culture.

Instructor: Chris Haugh has a resume filled with award-winning local history presentations completed as an employee with GS Communications, the Tourism Council of Frederick County, and his own business entitled History Shark Productions, which specializes in history consulting, research, writing and family history documentation. He is a frequent lecturer, instructor for FCC’s ILR program (Institute for Learning in Retirement) and is currently working with historic Mount Olivet Cemetery to develop programming opportunities as well as historic preservation.
