Buying, Selling and Consigning Antiques and Collectibles
4 sessions, 10 hours
During this intro ‘’hands-on’’ course, you will gain knowledge about buying and selling antiques and collectibles. The class will include tips, handouts, resources, research tools, on-line sites, strategies, question and answer sessions, and a visit to a local antiques store. During the last 30 minutes of the third on-campus session, you may bring in 1 small antique or collectible item for discussion. During the final session (which is a 4-hour session), you will meet your instructor and classmates off-campus to visit a local antiques store (you will need your own transportation). There you will learn how to buy items for the ‘’best’’ price, evaluate the quality of items, and understand needed strategies for the buying and selling process.
Instructor: In addition to 23 years at FCC as an English Professor and the International Education Coordinator, Peg Mauzy worked for Sloan’s Auction House in Washington DC and has sold antiques and collectibles for over 10 years.
