It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation as FCC’s ILR Program Manager effective June 1. While I looking forward to a summer off and to pursuing new opportunities in the fall, I confess to being very sad to leave my ILR family of instructors and students, and my FCC family of coworkers. Resigning has been a difficult decision for me, but I believe it was the right one.
Regarding the future of ILR, I am pleased to report that President Elizabeth Burmaster and the leadership of the Continuing Education and Workforce Development division recognize the importance of the program to the community and back its continuation with resources. In fact, preparations are already underway to search for and hire a new full time ILR program manager!
Friday, May 13 will be my last day in the office prior to taking two weeks of accrued leave. I plan to take a few ILR classes this summer, however, so I may see you in the classroom. I’ve also marked my calendar for the ILR Fall Open House on September 9, 2016. I hope you will, too.
Beginning today, please direct your questions, course ideas and other communications to my amazing associate Mary Beth Liller at firstname.lastname@example.org or 301-846-2405. She’ll take good care of you.
In closing, let me say that it has been an honor and a privilege to lead the ILR program over these last 16.5 years. I have met many brilliant teachers and dedicated lifelong learners and I have made many good friends. I wish all of you happy lives and joyful learning opportunities in the future.
