As the American home front became immersed in WWII, citizens turned to patriotic music for both entertainment and as a way to achieve war time goals. The war influenced the music as much as the music influenced the culture. Through a mix of lecture, videos, and recordings, the instructor will present what the American war aimed to achieve and the role of music in achieving these goals.

Instructor: Frank A. Salamone is a cultural anthropologist who has conducted research in various locations, including Africa, the United States, and South America. He has taught and written on many topics and on many stages of life. These include religion, imperialism, music, and human development.
